| | | | | In October 2022, the party hosted its biggest event of the year: the EDP Congress in Rome. The Congress brought together all affiliated parties and members to reconvene on the work executed thus far by the EDP and to set the goals for the upcoming months, including the organization of the outline for the 2023 EDP Manifesto. A hundred people attended to discuss the various policy areas which each member and/or national party holds valuable to them on a European level. The EDP Congress was the trademark of its events in 2022 and Secretary General, Sandro Gozi, led the congress with high hopes and fulfilled expectations after a two-year pandemic period. Various policy areas were discussed via different round tables and panel debates. Guest speakers such as Carlo Calenda from Azione and Matteo Renzi from Italia Viva spoke on behalf of the political situation in Italy as well as the ways in which political leaders can enhance their democratic values, such as those in the EDP. Diverse issues were tackled, and new policy incentives were introduced for the further development of the national parties, the EDP and Renew Europe. |

| | | | | | | The EDP wrapped up its events with a delegation visit to New York and D.C. in November. This was the second visit to the United States between 2021 and 2022. Sandro Gozi led the delegation to various high-level meetings with U.S. Democrats and policymakers, as well as European ambassadors and officials in the United Nations. This mission allowed for the EDP to exchange its democratic values with American politicians and to engage in dialogue with them and associated thinktanks/ NGOs. The EDP left a valuable impression on U.S. officials and have remained in touch with them to organize further visits/meetings on both sides of the Atlantic. |

| | | | | | | In February, the debut for the EDP’s regional campaign, “Solutions for Europe” launched in Angers. During the year, three additional “Solutions of Europe” campaigns took place in Krakow, Brno, and the Canary Islands. Through this campaign, the EDP has exhibited its commitment to understanding the importance of raising the voices of local communities on a European level. Member States expressed their local and regional concerns and how they expect the European Union to respond to the economic, social, democratic, and educational challenges that they face today. The different events hosted in the four countries allowed for many stakeholders to present solutions alongside EDP initiatives to particular challenges faced within the given territory of the Member State. Each “Solutions for Europe” campaign revolved around topics relevant to a particular territory, i.e. Member State. In May, the EDP hosted its second event in Krakow, in which Poland’s eighteen years of EU membership were recognized with political party Polska 2050. In July, the EDP hosted an event in Brno in light of the Czech Council Presidency. Czech party member, Senator 21, helped with the organization and focus on the White Paper on EU for the Czech Council Presidency. The last “Solutions for Europe” event of 2022 took place in Tenerife, where the focus was placed on the Canary Islands. This event particularly, in coordination with member party, Coalicion Canaria, highlighted the roles that outermost regions, such as the Canary Islands, play in the European Union. |
